While the Gravity Rush franchise isn’t as well-known as other first-party PlayStation titles, Kat’s absence from last year’s International Women’s Day theme for the PS4 didn’t go by unnoticed. Plenty of comments (some unfortunately not always respectful) were left on the official PlayStation Twitter account asking why she wasn’t included. Thankfully, the newly revealed 2019 International Women’s Day theme shows that Sony didn’t forget to include Kat this time around! You can view the theme and Kat in more detail below, and find a link to the free theme on the PS Store. On the theme’s background, Kat is joined by the following characters:
- Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn
- Ellie from The Last of Us
- Kara from Detroit: Become Human
- Chloe and Nadine from Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
- Atoi from Tearaway
- Freya from God of War
- Sackgirl from LittleBigPlanet
- Lady Maria from Bloodborne
The art featured in the theme was created by Choro Choi, concept artist at Guerrilla Games. You can find the PS Store link to the theme here (currently only available on the AU and EU PS Store, we assume NA will follow): https://store.playstation.com/?resolve=EP9000-CUSA01501_00-INTWOMENSDAY2019
UPDATE: The newly uploaded US Woman’s Day PS4 theme is the same as the one the EU got last year. For some reason it wasn’t released on the US PS Store back then, so it appears they decided to include it now rather than use the new theme. Those in the US who still want to use the EU theme should still be able to do so. It involves adding a EU PS4 account to download the free EU theme, and then use it from your US account on the same PS4.
PlayStation have also published a new video where they put a spotlight on the female employees at various game development studios, you can view that video below as well. Thanks to Wario64 on Twitter for the news.
